    The Weekend Begins at 5!

Posted on: March 3rd, 2017 by Randi No Comments

Since I am still confined to the house any plans of going out to eat or seeing Logan this weekend are ruined. I hope it’s not much longer.

Anyway, the Nintendo Switch came out today and because we couldn’t get a preorder, we weren’t expecting to get it. We really want to play Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and although we can play on the Wii U, we know it’s going to look better on the Switch. We knew we’d be buying one soon. Who are we kidding, as soon as could get our hands on one.

Andrew went to go scope out some stores and could only find the grey (we really wanted the colored joy-cons!). Like, he was tripping over them. So, I said if they have the joy-cons in stock, grab a grey console. When Mario Kart comes out, we’ll need 4 anyway. We’ll have something fun to do this weekend.

I’m now eagerly waiting for 5:00pm when Andrew is home and I am off work for us to start this weekend!

    We’re going to MINECON!

    We’re going to MineCon 2016!

A couple of weeks ago, right after it was announced, we decided we could totally go to MineCon. I hadn’t said anything because I wasn’t sure how getting tickets would go. They went on sale last night at 9:00pm EST. Andrew and I were ready to take it on, even though he was more excited for the Nvidia announcement (Andrew will be upgrading in a few weeks, woot-woot! which means I get his gfx card!) that started at the same time. The clock struck 9, the green button appeared and we were off. By the time it loaded, Andrew’s journey had ended with an “Unavailable” and I was typing faster than I have ever typed in my life. I was done in 2 minutes!

Andrew and I don’t travel, ever. We’ve gone to visit family in New York, and once we went to Massachusetts to go to an arcade VERY early in our relationship. We’ve talked about planning a trip for our honeymoon but really, we’re just happy being together and with our video games. When I saw MineCon announced last year, I was very upset that it was in London, not like I would have gone. I kept saying, “If it’s in America next year, I’m going. I don’t care if it’s in California.” Well, I would have preferred the east coast, but I’ll take it!

    Ball Choppin’ and Creeper Stompin’

This week is a good week. Tomorrow Loki is going in to be neutered. It’s definitely time. Then on Thursday, assuming all the shipping dates are correct, I will have my new Razer Kraken Pro headset and an new desk! Edit: Turns out the headset might be here tomorrow! Today, I helped Whitters set up her Minecraft server and it looks kind of awesome. 🙂 We aren’t done yet but I’m excited.

However, there’s always some bad with the good. Rockstar delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto V PC. 🙁 I’m pretty bummed about it but everything else kept me from thinking about it too much.

    What I Got for Christmas

Posted on: December 26th, 2014 by Randi 5 Comments

My wonderful boyfriend surprised me with 2 special presents that I have been dying for for quite a few months!

One was the new Razer Chroma keyboard and I am super excited. I’ve already changed the colors a few times. 🙂 And the other was a brand new 24″ Asus monitor (serious upgrade from my 20″ HP) that is an exact match to the 2 monitors that Andrew currently owns and I have been lusting after since he got them. My favorite feature is a button that sets grids for me to work with in Photoshop. I can’t even describe how I excited I am to game with it.

What’s even better is Andrew is upgrading very soon and I get his so I will have 3 of these beauties! 🙂

    Oh, Monday

We lost power for about 2 1/2 hours just as Andrew was coming home from work. So, I sat in the dark with Andrew, Patrick, Patrick’s girlfriend Missy, and their terrorist dog Mya (heh) and spent some time with my neighbors. Apparently, during construction, something happened, a telephone pole was on fire, and power for the whole city went out. Yay, Scranton!

In an effort to minimize my boredom, I turned on my DS (really Andrew’s since I never charge mine) to play Animal Crossing and find that my first and incredibly original Olivia left my town. I kind of want to cry. It’s insane to see how attached you get to the virtual furries in your town. Alas, she is not gone forever. I can cycle through 16 villagers (wait for 16 villagers to move in and out) and get her back. It won’t be the same Olivia I had, it’ll be a new one, but at least I’ll have her back. She’s been there since the day I started the game. When I made a new town, I moved her over first. I’m really sad to see her go. I would have rather anyone else leave me.

Goodbye, Olivia. You will be missed!

In addition, I apparently had a “do all the electronic things!” surge go through me when it came back on. I even blogged at 8BitHeart. Maybe I’ll keep this up!

    Some Good and Some Bad

Posted on: October 29th, 2013 by Randi 1 Comment

The night before, I really did something to my neck. I must have slept on it wrong because I am unable to turn it the the left. It hurts a lot and I don’t have a heating pad for it. I’ve been trying to not move it so much but I’m failing miserably at it. It hurt yesterday but is much worse today. I tried to remove a pillow so that my neck wasn’t so crooked when I slept but it didn’t help and hurts much more than yesterday. God, I feel like I was in an accident or something.

Yesterday, we ran out to grab some stuff from Walmart for dinner. No matter what we go for, we always walk around the store looking for other stuff. That could be why we always spend way more than needed when we go shopping and yesterday was no different. We made it over to the Electronics section and I found a Razer Deathstalker Elite Gaming Keyboard for $50. I’ve been wanting to exact same one but the Ultimate version for a couple of months now. So, as soon as I get some spendable money, I’ll be picking up the Ultimate one and passing this one over to Andrew for his computer. Since my computer is the gaming PC for the house, Andrew is willing to split the cost of the new one with me, since a) it’s awesome as fuck and b) he uses my PC for gaming more than anyone. I’m just excited to have backlit (and of course, chiclet) keys since my side of the office is pretty dark without a ceiling light and it’s in a keyboard drawer so I can’t even use the light of the monitor for it. I’m super happy to have been able to snag it, brand new for $50, as Amazon and the like sells it for $70 and up.

All that’s needed is a gaming mouse and we’re set. The reason I keep putting it off is because I don’t like the feel of gaming mice as they are too bulky for everyday browsing and web design stuff. Most likely what will happen is we’ll get a wired one (why would you get a wireless gaming mouse anyway) and keep my wireless one plugged in for my use. Andrew has one but I’m not really a big fan of it. It’s way to bulky to browse Reddit with it and he has it set so damn high that I can’t use it without turning it down.

That’s what today and yesterday consisted of. I’m off to rest my neck.

    Recapping the Last Week

Posted on: October 27th, 2013 by Randi No Comments

Have you ever started to blog but before you could finish it, it was no longer full of relevant information? That’s happened twice this week, so let me try this again.

Blogging was put on the back burner while I enjoyed Andrew’s week off. By the end of the week, I was burned out on Pokemon, partially because I played it nonstop and the other part, Andrew follows me around like a puppy telling me things I don’t care about it, getting in my way, and ignoring me for the damn thing. I love Pokemon but that man ruins it for me.

Friday, my mom had her surgery. Thankfully, it could not have gone smoother. She was in pain, which was to be expected, but overall she was in good spirits went my brother and I were allowed back to see her.

By Saturday, I fell back into this weird phase where I just can’t get enough. Of course, it had to happen the day before he went back to work. I would spend all day thinking about it and by the time he got home this week, he’d pick up the DS and wouldn’t put it down until he went to bed. So, that caused a few issues over the week. Angie and my mother both told me to take the damn thing off of him or hide to get him to do anything.

Monday (or Tuesday, I’m not sure) Andrew found a great deal on a chest freezer on SlickDeals at Kmart. My brother was off so we went down to pick it up. I’m so excited because this may be the first brand new appliance I’ve ever had, if you don’t count Rent-A-Center. It’s new, it’s clean, it makes our ice cream rock hard (which I never knew you needed to ask if the freezer freezes ice cream before. Ones that come with fridges don’t usually do that unless you ask. The more you know..). I love it and now we can buy meat in bulk!

Wednesday, I got a panicked call from my mother on her way to Zack’s school. Without going into too much detail, Zack royally screwed up. So, I was at her house helping out because the woman just had surgery. Overall, a lot of people involved are being extremely helpful. Zack is nothing less than a good kid, who made a big mistake. Everyone can see that. He couldn’t be more remorseful about it. FYI, no one was hurt or in any danger. I could go on forever about it but it’s not my place to speak about it or make a public announcement on this blog so I’ll end it here.

Friday crept up on us. Or on myself at least. Honestly, until yesterday, I wouldn’t have been able to properly outline this last week because I thought yesterday was Wednesday.

We don’t have Zack and Breya this weekend and I happen to see a meat sale at MaineSource so we went and picked up Steaks. I’ve never heard Andrew make those kinds of sounds while eating so I assume I can cook them well. We also popped some baked potatoes in the oven (which I’ve never tried) and they were amazing. So good, Andrew is thinking about going back to get more.

Today, we got up late and watched a movie together. We hung out on the couch for a few hours and now he’s back on his DS. I’ll give him a little while but if he doesn’t give it up soon, I’ll be taking it off of him to get what I want. 😉

A few of my favorite things from this week:

    • My neighbor’s friend brought her baby down a few times. Baby tummy gobbling is my specialty.
    • I watched Pitch Perfect which I thought was a cute movie.
    • A project I did a couple months ago for school proved to be helpful again when Angie needed blogging help videos.
    • My mom told me that she brought Phantom in the house and it’s been so cold that he doesn’t even want to go back outside.
    • Pennsylvania’s Fall season is officially upon us. Lots of people are probably complaining but my favorite time of year is Fall nights where it’s cold, windy, and has a peaceful sense to it. Leaves have fallen and it just feels like Halloween. It makes me miss my black cat.
    • I pulled out the Christmas tree I got back in August and looked for a stand. There is one so I don’t have to worry about finding one for the tree I have. I’ll just need more lights, ornaments, and a star.

Overall, I’m super happy with the way things are going. I’ve got some, not much, money coming in from blogging and a few freelance jobs. It isn’t steady yet but I like to help out.

I had plans to dress up for Halloween but my anniversary present/hoodie/costume kept getting forgot about. We were going to get it from Hot Topic but when we went down to size it, it was too small even with their largest size. I can’t say I’m bummed because I went looking for the next size up and found it on eBay for $40 less and in a bigger size. So, unless I get creative, I won’t have anything for Halloween since it’s coming from China and still hasn’t been ordered yet. I’m still getting the damn hoodie, though.

I’ve always wanted to go to a Halloween party and my neighbors next door are having one. Costumes are required, though, so we’ll see.

I have so much to do today and I don’t want to do it.

First things first, I have some work to complete for Andrew’s companies site. I tackled half of it but I’m waiting to hear back from head of IT for the ftp credentials. Someone changed the login for it and no one is fessing up.

Next on the agenda is to finish up my layout for 8BitHeart. I have the mockup done and I’ve been going at it so many different ways because I was trying to find short cuts. I need a base because featured posts sliders are a bitch to make and no one seems to have a good tutorial for what I require. However, each bases’ CSS is so unorganized and I keep starting over. Might be best to find what I need and completely strip it before I begin coding. Such a pain in the ass.

I’d really prefer to have it done today so I can set up the Pokemon X or Y giveaway since the game releases on Saturday. I would have preferred to run it as soon as Saturday night but clearly, that didn’t work out. On top of that I have posts to do on there and still have one floating for this blog that I completely forgot about. I will have that one up this week.

Thankfully, the house is clean so I don’t have that weighing on my shoulders. Despite being up until about 6am, I was up at 11am to get the kids packed and back to Mom’s house. I’m not too tired but it’s also the earliest I’ve had a coffee into me in over a month. Hopefully, I can keep that going because I need to stay motivated. I’d much rather lay on the couch and watch last night’s SNL. So, that shall be my reward when all is said and done.

Since waiting on the ftp stuff can take a while, I might as well start my blog’s layout and see how much I can accomplish with that. I really don’t have time to be blogging this but I’m on a cigarette break so I figured if squeeze something in.

I’m off to do all the things.

Why October Will Be My Favorite Month

Posted on: October 1st, 2013 by Randi 5 Comments

I don’t usually have a favorite month. However, this year October is shaping up to be the best one. Despite all the reasons below, I think one of my favorites is that October is the start of really good hoodie weather. So much is happening this October that I’m so relieved that it’s finally here.

    1.) Bangerz (October 8th)

Bangerz is dropping on October 8th and while I haven’t preordered it yet, I’m going to. The reason I’m waiting is because I’m grabbing a physical copy (Deluxe, of course) from Amazon. I’ve mentioned how much I love her other songs, including “23” which doesn’t look like it’s on the album, but is amazing anyway. I can’t wait!

    2. Pokemon X & Y (October 12th)

WOOOT! I couldn’t be more excited. We’ve been waiting on this for MONTHS and it’s almost here. So excited for Pokemon-Amie and the new world. Everything looks beautiful and I can’t wait. It’s all Andrew and I talk about anymore. He took off a week for the week of its release to play it. It just so happens that our anniversary is that week, too.

    3. Our Anniversary (October 15th)

This month, Andrew and I celebrate 6 years together. I never guessed I’d be here now with him. So much has happened but everyday I’m thankful that I wake up next to him. Six years is a long time but I look forward to spending many more with him.

    4. Sims 3 Into The Future (October 22nd)

I’m very excited for this EP since they announced it back in March. It sounds like a lot of fun and will be making for a lot of playtime. I love the Sims and now that I can take them to another generation and play with robots, I’m so excited! This is my 3rd favorite EP release of the entire Sims 3 franchise. I can’t wait to see how much work they put into it.

    5. Halloween (October 31st)

This has to be my favorite holiday that you don’t get presents for. Halloween was always fun. I love dressing up even though I haven’t done so in a few years. I love the dark and spooky decorations and I look forward to giving out candy this year.

Is your October going to be special, too? Do you share any of the excitement that I do?

    Just a Few Things

Posted on: September 4th, 2013 by Randi 2 Comments

To put it simply, I’ve fallen off the face of the blogosphere because I got a 3DS. I’m serious. Don’t buy Animal Crossing: New Lead because it will run your life. It dictates when I get up in the morning. It decides when and when I can’t leave the house. It’s consumed all of my reddit viewing because I am now sucked into r/animalcrossing, r/actrades, and r/acturnips.

I have dabbled in the thought of closing up my other blog and making it into a professional website. I sort of, kind of, maybe, want to start a strictly video gaming blog. However, I’m torn because I know the amount of time and effort that goes into blogging and I’m starting to think that writing about playing will take over me actually playing. Then, I’ll have nothing to write about.

Since the AC obsession has slowed1 and I can function a bit more like a sane adult, I’m getting back into the swing of things. I’m about this | | close to spending a bit of my extra money on an XL. Funny story, by the way. I played Andrew’s 3DS XL and loved it. We went and bought a regular 3DS off of Craigslist. I was like “OMG! SO SMALL!”. I’ve been playing it for a week and a half. Yesterday, Andrew asked for help in his AC game 2 and I was like “OMG, SO BIG!!1!”

It’s kind of the same situation with Bella, my cat. She was always so tiny and I thought she would never grow. We bring James home and the little bitch had to show off and grow overnight. Now, James is super tiny, Bella is normal size, Reese is large, and Phantom looks like a panther.

Speaking of kitties, We took Bella to the vet, I mentioned, I think. Because we took her, we had to push Jame’s shots appointment back. Well, we got him to the vet on Saturday. He got some of his shots, and an FIV/FIP (I can never remember the difference) test. The doctor kind of talked me into it, since it was optional, by mentioning the harm to my other cats. Maybe I put it out of my mind, or I chose to ignore it, but until that moment, I had no idea whether he was positive or negative and I started to think about all the times they were in contact with each other, how can they get it, how could I forget that it could be a possibility, what do I do if he has it, etc. The thought never crossed my mind. Thankfully, he was negative.

I had them cut his nails before we went out. The vet couldn’t be more understanding since they described James as feisty and a monkey. He’s good on shots until next month and they told us several times that they can neuter him at the same time. So, we’ll definitely be getting those two things out of the way.

I’m hoping for a better update in the very near future.

    1. It’s still there but it’s not OMG NEW GAIME!..
    2. Muahhahahahah!
